Acadia Students to Return to Class on Thursday
Acadia and AUFA agree to send all outstanding items to arbitration
(Halifax, NS) The four week long strike by the Acadia University Faculty Association (AUFA) has ended and classes will resume on Thursday March 3, 2022. This follows three days of mediation between Acadia and AUFA with provincially-appointed Mediator William Kaplan. While no agreement was reached in mediation, the parties have agreed to send all outstanding items to arbitration under Arbitrator Kaplan, the decision of the arbitrator will be final and binding.
The University looks forward to welcoming the students back to class on Thursday and would like to thank the Acadia community for their patience during the strike.
Over the coming days, Acadia’s Senate will be convening to determine any changes that are required to academic calendar and the University will be reviewing the full financial impacts of the strike on students. Information on these matters will be provided to the Acadia community as soon as possible.
The latest information can be found on Acadia’s Labour Relations website.
