Message to Students: Classes to resume Thursday, March 3

Acadia University and the Acadia University Faculty Association have agreed to send all outstanding issues to arbitration, which will be final and binding. The strike has ended, and classes will resume on Thursday March 3, 2022.

All classes will return to in-person format; any exceptions will be communicated for specific courses

Other than Open Acadia courses, all courses will be available in person. Your professors may choose to offer their courses in a hybrid format, but all courses will be available in person beginning Thursday. You should expect to hear from your professors today or tomorrow.

Wearing a mask in all University spaces and following current Public Health protocols is required until further notice.

Information regarding adjustments to Winter Term dates, exams, and financial compensation forthcoming

Details regarding the impact of the strike on term dates, exams, how your classes will be completed, and information regarding any financial compensation will be communicated as soon as possible.

The University is working to keep any extension of the term to a minimum, understanding the negative impacts an extension would have on many students. We will provide as much support as possible to those affected.

Most importantly, you will be able to complete your term and earn the course credits you have been working towards.

Thank you

We look forward to welcoming you back to class and would like to thank the Acadia community for their patience during the strike.

We can all agree that you have gone through more than you should have these last few years. I look forward to a post-pandemic, post-strike environment so you can experience Acadia in its best form.

While we have received many emails and phone calls from students and parents, you have been nothing but respectful and understanding. I have heard from parents who represent generation after generation of Acadia alumni who were profoundly disappointed in the situation, and students who are just eager to get back to learning. We will work to make it up to you now that the strike is over.

With warmest regards,
